Samir Handanovic (born July 14, 1984), is a Slovenian player who plays as a goalkeeper for Italian club Internazionale and the Slovenian national team. He is famous for his ability to save penalties. During the 2010-11 Serie A season, he had saved a total of six penalty shots, tying the all time record set in the 1948-49 season the league and, in May 2011, a short five all-time league record

early career

Handanovic started his career at Slovan and then transferred to Domzale, where he spent two seasons. He was signed by Udinese in the summer of 2004 at the age of 20. He was loaned out to Treviso in summer 2005, but in January 2006, he was exchanged with Matteo Sereni to Lazio.

In July 2006, he was loaned to Rimini. the price has been set at € 1.2 million, the club finished fifth in Serie B and the fourth smallest amount of goals conceded in the league.

On July 4, 2012, Udinese manager Gino Pozzo, the son of the president Giampaolo Pozzo team, confirmed that an agreement to transfer to Internazionale accomplished Handanovic with Inter paid € 11M for his services.
